In a medical emergency, nothing matters more than a fast response. So we make certain expert medical assistance is just a few minutes away - 24 hours-a-day, 7 days-a-week. The emergency department at North Ottawa Community Hospital is always staffed with physicians and nurses who specialize in emergency medicine. In addition, our Advanced Life Support ambulances are equipped with the latest life-saving technologies and operated by certified, highly-trained paramedics.
North Ottawa Community Hospital’s Ambulance Service has received a three-year accreditation from the Commission on Accreditation of Ambulance Services (CAAS) for its compliance with national standards of excellence. North Ottawa Community Hospital’s Ambulance Service became the 120th ambulance service in the country to successfully be accredited.
Our Ambulance Services Department is staffed by state licensed Paramedics. Their training and expertise, as well as the sophisticated equipment on board each ambulance, enable them to provide our community with Advanced Life Support (ALS) services. NOCH Ambulance Services works closely with community Police and Fire Departments and is affiliated with area emergency Helicopter Services.

1. Dial 911
2. When the call taker answers, remember the following:
o Be Calm! Say, I have an emergency.
o Speak slowly and clearly. Give a clear and simple description of the emergency.
o Stay on the telephone! DO NOT hang up unless the call taker tells you to.
o Answer all questions and listen carefully to what the call taker tells you.
